Mining history exhibition

In the little headquarters of the sulfur miners league, the old miners of Piazza Armerina have setted up a small permanent exposition of local mining history, providing all the old relics kept in their homes: tools, helmets, acetylene lamps and many examples of sulfur crystals, a mineral which was for many sicilian families an important source of income, but also source of terrible diseases.

In this little but very interesting exposition is also possible to admire some mines models created by one of the league members, and is possible to hear from those who worked there, stories and legend linked to major local mines: Grattacalda, Floristella, Baccarato.
